Sadie “Louise” Deen, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Sadie “Louise” Deen was born April 27, 1922 in Burlington Junction, Missouri the daughter of John and Crystal (Bartlett) Morton. She attended school in Missouri and later was united in marriage to Loren Deen on September 11, 1941 in Harrisburg, Nebraska. They later moved to Nebraska living in Omaha and Plattsmouth before settling in Cheney, Nebraska. Louise and Loren both worked for the University of Nebraska as Custodians. They retired in 1984 and in 1988 moved to Red Oak, Iowa. Loren preceded Louise in death in 1989. Louise moved to Torrington, Wyoming in 2001 and back to Red Oak in 2006 where she had been a resident of the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Louise loved cleaning house, cooking, and making her children and grandchildren laugh with her wonderful and witty sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Louise in death were her parents; her husband: Loren in 1989; brothers: Robert, Don, Frederick, and Larry Morton; sisters-in-law: Charlotte Morton and Pauline Morton; and niece: Connie Jones. Survivors include her sons: Gary Deen and wife Jackie of Red Oak, Iowa and Donald Deen and wife Sue of Torrington, Wyoming; grandchildren: Mike Deen of Columbus, Nebraska; Wes Deen and wife Becky of Torrington, Wyoming; Crystal Korb of Columbus, Nebraska; Tammy Bleigh and husband Jason of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; Tina Garrelts of Torrington, Wyoming; and Kim Deen and husband Ricky Wan of Suffern, New York; step-grandchildren: Randy Pappas of Corning, Iowa; Ron Pappas and wife Barb of Red Oak, Iowa; Cindy Schmelzer and husband Kurt of Corning, Iowa; and Debbie Pappas and Jim Athen of Red Oak, Iowa; many great grandchildren; sisters: Pauline Jones and husband Bob of Burlington Junction, Missouri and Lena Purcell and husband Ron of Hinkley, California; brothers: Marvin Morton of Miami, Oklahoma and Norman Morton of Nemaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association or the American Cancer Society.
