Mildred Brown, age 54, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, March 18, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak after an extended illness. Mildred Louise Brown was born July 15, 1947 in Hastings, Iowa the daughter of William and Pheba (Hill) Brown. She was raised in Hastings, Iowa and attended Nishna Valley Schools. She has lived all of her life in the Southwest Iowa area and most recently has resided at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. She had worked for the Union Carbide, Douglas and Lomason, Star Agri , and Unitog in Glenwood. Mildred was preceded in death by her father: William Brown in 1963; and a grandson: Dylan Briggs in 1991.

Survivors include her mother: Pheba Brown of Hastings, Iowa; 4 daughters: Kim Warren of Lincoln, Nebraska; Shelley Hurley of Greeley, Nebraska; Teri Briggs of Red Oak, Iowa; and Michelle Rihner of Avoca, Iowa; 2 sons: Raymond Briggs of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and William Briggs of Red Oak, Iowa; 25 grandchildren; 3 brothers: John Brown of Malvern, Iowa; William “Bill” Williams of St. James, New York; and Henry Schwartz of Oregon; sister: Charlotte; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, March 21, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Mildred will be cremated after the funeral services.
