Carl “Hugo” Anderson, son of Carl Sidon and Augusta Albertina Anderson, who were Swedish immigrants, was born March 3, 1922 near Bucklin, Missouri and passed away, January 28, 2011 at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa.

He was the youngest child in a family of nine. His parents were married in Red Oak, Iowa, were engaged in farming, and started a family before moving to Bucklin, Missouri in 1911. The Anderson family very faithfully attended the services at a small country church. Hugo trusted in Christ as his own personal Saviour at the age of seven during Vacation Bible School and was baptized by immersion in 1955.

The family later moved back to Iowa where he farmed with his dad and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1940. Shortly after graduation, he moved to the current family farm near Villisca where he lived the remainder of his life.

Mr. Anderson was married to Neva Louise Kempton of Corning, Iowa at her parents farmhouse on October 15, 1948. To this union four sons were born: Clifton, Kenneth, Carl, and Keith.

Hugo was a lifetime farmer in rural Villisca, Iowa, and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak, Iowa. He attended faithfully and served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher.

Hugo was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters: Ruth, Alice, Edith, Esther, Edla, Elsie, and Lillie; and one brother, Edwin. He is survived by his wife, Neva of Villisca, sons: Clifton (Carol) of Urbandale, IA; Kenneth of Villisca; Carl (Brenda) of Shawnee, KS and Keith (Debbie) of Villisca, ; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 9 AM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
