Barbara A. Elliott, age 81, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at her residence after an extended illness. Barbara Anne Elliott was born June 17, 1929 in Sidney, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Della (Carr) Adle. She was raised in Sidney graduating from Sidney High School in 1947. She worked for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company and then Fremont County Auditorís Office before going back to Mutual of Omaha. Barbara was united in marriage to Henry Elliott on October 4, 1953 in Sidney, Iowa. They moved to Red Oak in 1956 and Barb worked for Jessens Clothing Store before she and Henry owned and operated Henry Elliott Real Estate until recently. Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Red Oak Altrusa Club of which she was a past president, was a YMCA Volunteer and Iowa School For The Deaf Volunteer. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents and 3 sisters: Estelle Barnard, Virginia Rawlins, and Mary Harrill. Survivors include her husband: Henry Elliott of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Susan Strait of Red Oak, Iowa; Steve Elliott and Deb Frazier of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Anne Elliott of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Dawn McIntyre and husband Troy of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Amy Ivins and husband Fred of Omaha, Nebraska; Lindsey Huntington and Randy Peebles of Omaha, Nebraska; Jamie Strait of Red Oak, Iowa; and Nicholas Strait of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandchildren: Andrew, Taylor, Emily, Kelsey, Hannah, Tyshawn, Ryan, Vincent, Ian, and Saphira; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 AM Monday, August 9, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. There will be a private family burial of the cremated remains at Locust Grove Cemetery in Fremont County, Iowa later on Monday.
