Marjorie M. Cooper, age 93, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa. Marjorie Marie Cooper was born July 27, 1916 in Page County, Iowa the daughter of Victor and Hilda (Freeman) Danielson. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1934 and attended the summer session of the State Teachers College of Cedar Falls, Iowa, held at the Shenandoah High School. She taught rural country school in Page County for three years. Marjorie was united in marriage to Harold Cooper of Emerson, Iowa on May 20, 1939. She spent most of her life being a homemaker and mother. Marjorie was a member of the Champion Hill Presbyterian Church for many years until it closed. She served as longtime treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and janitor. She also devoted much time to being a 4-H leader. After raising her family, she worked at the grocery store in Emerson for a number of years. Marjorie was currently a member of the Emerson United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Marjorie enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Harold Cooper in 1969; brother: Merle Danielson and his wife Colleen; and brother-in-law: Wayne Quist. Survivors include her children: Darrell Cooper and wife Barb of Huntley, Illinois; Karen Morris and husband Berl of Emerson, Iowa; and Marshall Cooper and wife Barb of Oakland, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Robin Douglas and husband David; David Cooper; Anne Christensen and husband Gary; Paula Rogge and husband Charles; Russell Cooper and wife Maria; Christine Corrigan and husband Mike; Jean Cooper; and Scott Cooper; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Phyllis Quist of San Jose, California; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson United Methodist Women or the Emerson Public Library.
