Dorothy A. Drake, age 80, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center after an extended illness. Dorothy Arlene Drake was born November 16, 1929 near Coburg, Iowa the daughter of Morris and Fern (Anderson) Reed. She grew up near Coburg and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Leland Drake on May 11, 1948 in Shenandoah, Iowa. They lived in Shenandoah, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas before moving to Red Oak in 1968. While in Kansas Dorothy worked at the Russell Stover Candy Company and in Red Oak was a cook at the Red Oak High School for many years. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, enjoyed her flowers, was a wonderful cook, and always enjoyed family gatherings.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband: Leland Drake on January 6, 2003. Survivors include her children: Andrew Drake and wife Ann of Waverly, Nebraska; Janet Osheim and husband Harold of Red Oak, Iowa; Paul Drake and wife Maureen of Maryville, Missouri; Jeanne Peterson and husband Greg of Kansas City, Missouri; Robert Drake and wife Cathy of Red Oak, Iowa; Emily Carlisle and husband Dallas of Lebanon, Missouri; Ron Drake and wife Sue of Red Oak, Iowa; Phillip Drake of Dodge City, Kansas; Gary Drake and wife Laverne of Omaha, Nebraska; and Aaron Drake of Forsyth, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters: Marilyn Seward of Etna, California; June Smith of Woburn, Oregon; and Karen Wood and husband Mike of Kansas City, Missouri; brother: Lowell Reed and wife Marlene of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Alan Dean officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Serenity Garden.
