Raymond L. Marsden, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Raymond Lewis Marsden was born August 11, 1920 in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Lewis and Minnie (Mason) Marsden. He attended school at Stennett and after high school started working for Martin and Sons Farm Supply. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until January of 1946. Raymond was united in marriage to Mildred Cozad on February 24, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa. He worked for BF Goodrich for many years until the store was closed. He then worked for Martin and Sons Farm Supply and was later a Policeman for the city of Red Oak. He worked as a janitor at both the hospital and the Courthouse retiring in 1982. Over the years he was a member of the American Legion and was a city councilman from 1968 until 1972. He enjoyed fishing, going on bus tours in retirement, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were an infant son: Bobby; parents; brothers: Lester and Earl Marsden; and his beloved wife: Mildred on January 1, 2007. Survivors include his daughters: Donna Andrusyk and husband Robert of Sumner, Iowa and Cheryl Marsden of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Ian Andrusyk and Jara Andrusyk of Chicago, Illinois; sisters-in-law: Maxine Marsden and Margaret Cozad of Red Oak, Iowa; and Peggy Fast and husband Orville of Elliott, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel by 10:30 AM to go to the cemetery in procession. There will be open visitation all day Monday, March 23, 2009 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Hospice of Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
