Julia “June” Pfeiffer, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Julia “June” Pfeiffer was born June 1, 1917 in Wheeler, Arkansas the daughter of Edgar and Ethel (Luyster) Stevenson. She was raised and graduated high school in Arkansas. The family moved to Red Oak in 1936. June worked for Faunces Clothing and also a clothing store in Creston before her marriage to Fred Pfeiffer on October 19, 1943 in Red Oak, Iowa. She was a homemaker until 1972 when she went back to work at the Faunce’s Clothing Store. She worked there until the store closed in 1979. Fred preceded her in death on March 19, 1974.

June was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Kate Harrison; and a brother: Edgar Stevenson.

Survivors include her 2 sons: Stan Pfeiffer and his wife Martha of Red Oak, Iowa; and Michael Pfeiffer and his wife Pat of Bellevue, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren: Tim Pfeiffer and his wife Leigh of Stanton, Iowa; Amy Pfeiffer of Chicago, Illinois; Tom Pfeiffer of Ames, Iowa; Laura Pfeiffer of Iowa City, Iowa; Mary Pfeiffer of Red Oak, Iowa; Trever Pfeiffer and his wife Brandi of Omaha, Nebraska; and Christina Drezelo and her husband Dave of Omaha, Nebraska; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Pfeiffer of Maryville, Missouri; and Peggy Cassell of Torrance, California; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 10 AM Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Father James Kleffman officiating. Burial of ashes will be in the Salem Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
