Dallas C. Wells, Sr., age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Dallas Claude Wells, Sr., was born August 20, 1921 in Exira, Iowa the son of Lucius Daniel and Addie Lillian (Dill) Wells. He was raised in the Exira and Atlantic, Iowa areas. During WWII, Dallas served in the United States Army and was a Prisoner of War for 27 months. Dallas returned from the war and was united in marriage to Betty Hinkle in 1947. To this union was born four children: Kenneth Warren, Patricia, Betty Claudine, and Dallas, Jr. After their marriage they lived in Adel, Iowa until moving to Red Oak in 1959. Dallas was united in marriage to Dorothy Carter on October 31, 1964 in Red Oak, Iowa. To this union was born two children: Troy and Teresa. Dallas was a truck driver most of his life working for Russell Halvin for 15 years. He then was the city of Red Oak’s Park Superintendent for 10 years. He was an avid Atlanta Braves Baseball fan and loved to watch professional wrestling. His greatest joy came from his family whom he loved very much.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Kenneth Warren Wells; a daughter: Patricia Goodwin; and brothers: Larry Higdon; Harry Ludak; and Luther Wells. Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Wells of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Betty Claudine “Bugs” Wells of Tabor, Iowa; Dallas C. Wells, Jr. of Topeka, Kansas; Troy Wells and wife Kelly of W. Des Moines, Iowa; and Teresa Parris and husband Robert of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Danine Miller and husband Mardy of Harlan, Iowa; Rick Goodwin and wife Claudia of Denver, Colorado; Jeff Goodwin of Cherokee, Iowa; Anna Price and husband Brian of Red Oak, Iowa; Allyson Wells of Provo, Utah; Austin Wells of W. Des Moines, Iowa; Ryker Connell and Sydney Connell of Red Oak, Iowa; and Stephanie Parris, Claudia Parris, and Brandon Parris all of Corning, Iowa; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters: Norma Lee Rosell of Osage, Iowa and Mary Lint of Houston, Texas; brother: Jack Knight and wife Violet of Atlantic, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brett White officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family.
