Wilma Coy, age 90, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Monday, August 6, 2001 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Wilma Leonore Coy was born July 13, 1911 in West Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Addie (Kellenbarger) Cooper. She was raised and lived all of her life in the Montgomery County and Mills County area. She spent her younger years taking care of her sister Florence and then married H. Ward Coy on December 15, 1951 at the Champion Hill Church near Emerson, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1961. Wilma was a member of the Champion Hill Church for 60 years, was a member of the Emerson Senior Citizens, and the Emerson Sewing Circle.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters: Florence and Lucille; and brothers: Walter, Ward, Chet, Glen, and Harold.

Survivors include her sister: Sarah Melichar of Cologne, Minnesota; 2 sisters-in-law: Marjorie Cooper of Emerson, Iowa; and Ellen Cooper of Knoxville, Iowa; 12 nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, August 10, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Smith, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Iowa. Visitation will be held 7-8 PM Thursday, August 9, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson Community Building.
