Leroy “Toots” Thompson, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 13, 2006 at his residence. Leroy “Toots” Thompson was born July 29, 1921 in Adams County, Iowa. He was raised in Carbon, Iowa and was united in marriage to Jessie Dalgetty on May 25, 1940 in Clarinda, Iowa. Toots and Jessie have lived in Red Oak for the past 45 years. Toots was a bonded cattle scalper for many years working with L.V. Bradley. He was honored with being the first recipient of a conservation award for a project of a water shed he constructed many years ago. He loved his family and enjoyed visiting with people wherever he went, especially the days when there was the JD’s Coffee Club.

Toots is survived by his wife: Jessie Thompson of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Judy Benedict and husband Joe of Villisca, Iowa; grandchildren: Todd Benedict of Guthrie Center, Iowa; and Jody Druivenga and husband Sean of Stanton, Iowa; 3 great grandchildren: Dilan, Dakkota, and Devin Druivenga all of Stanton, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Craig Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Quincy Cemetery near Carbon, Iowa. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Stanton Elementary Accelerated Readers Program.
