Velda Olsen, age 89, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Care Center. Velda B. Olsen was born December 2, 1911 in Prescott, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Peterson) Bramow. She graduated from the Corning, Iowa High School in 1930 and later moved to Missouri where she helped with farming. Velda moved to Omaha, Nebraska during World War II. She was united in marriage to Frank Olsen in July of 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska. Frank preceded her in death in 1964. Velda worked for the University of Nebraska Hospital in the Radiology Department from 1961 until she retired in 1977. She then moved to Red Oak where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Baptist Missionary Group.

Velda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother: Earl Bramow.

Survivors include her son: Boyd Olsen and his wife Margie of Kansas City, Missouri; brother: Merril Bramow of Bellevue, Nebraska; and a sister: Edith Wilson of Bedford, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Warren Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Corning, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Care Center.
