Laura “Lorraine” Wendt, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Laura “Lorraine” Wendt was born August 9, 1923 in Stennett, Iowa the daughter of R.L. “Jim” and Laura (Rush) White. She was raised near Stennett and graduated from Stennett High School. Lorraine was united in marriage to Wilbur Wendt on December 6, 1941 in Grant City, Missouri. They lived and farmed all of their lives in Montgomery County, Iowa. Lorraine loved playing cards, board games, gardening, crafts, wall papering, and was a sports enthusiast going to all of the kid’s events. In later years Wilbur and Lorraine moved into Red Oak and also enjoyed wintering in Texas and Arizona for many years.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother: Clendora White; husband: Wilbur Wendt on January 12, 2003; son: Marvin Wendt; granddaughters: Barbara, Judy and Jane Reynolds; brother: Robert White; and sisters: Linda Foote and Ruth Scheel. Survivors include her children: Phyllis Reynolds of Red Oak, Iowa; Larry Wendt and wife Cindy of Warsaw, Missouri; Bev Kammerer and fiancé Steve Cleland of Red Oak, Iowa; and Fred Wendt and wife Cindy of Red Oak, Iowa; 10 grandchildren: David Reynolds and fiancé Amy Jessen of Elliott, Iowa; Amy Bechen and husband Steve of Moville, Iowa; Tim Kammerer and wife Sara of Stanton, Iowa; Barb Pappas and husband Ron of Shelby, Iowa; Bob Reynolds and wife Nancy of Atlantic, Iowa; Michelle Linn and husband Andrew of Pierson, Iowa; Mark Wendt and wife Dana of Anthon, Iowa; Julie Vrba and husband Brian of Red Oak, Iowa; Aaron Wendt and wife Heidi of Red Oak, Iowa; and Lindsey Maupin and husband Eric of Skidmore, Missouri; 25 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; sisters: Maxine Norris and husband Lyle of Thornton, Colorado; Norma Schultz and husband Gordon of Grand Island, Nebraska; Betty McCunn of Greenfield, Iowa; Pat Williams and husband Jack of Glenwood, Iowa; and Mary Jones and husband Bob of Red Oak, Iowa; brothers: Leo White and wife Leah of Elliott, Iowa; Bill White and special friend Julia of Malvern, Iowa; Jim White and wife Shirley of Omaha, Nebraska; John White and wife Claudette of Treynor, Iowa; Wayne White and wife Ann of Elk Horn, Iowa; and Charles White of Essex, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, January 23, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
