Harry Vannausdle, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Harry Dean Vannausdle was born March 29, 1929 near Wales, Iowa the son of James Arthur and Mamie (Kelso) Vannausdle. Harry graduated from the Wales Lincoln High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Mellott on September 3, 1949. He was in the National Guard for eight years and worked at the Union Carbide and as an auto parts man before going to work for Carl Mellott in carpentry. He started Vannausdle Construction Company in 1954. Harry was a member of the First Covenant Church where he was a former trustee and was always very active. Harry was serving on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors. He was a former park board and board of adjustment member. Throughout his life, Harry was very active with all sports. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, and pool. His hobby was his lifelong work in the carpentry business.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Tommy, Jack, Bill, and infant Max.

Survivors include his wife: Marilyn Vannausdle of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sons: Chris Vannausdle and wife Becky; Kirk Vannausdle and wife Kelly; and Roger Vannausdle and wife Tracy all of Red Oak, Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Jenny Johnson and husband Bryce of Red Oak, Iowa; Jill Dahl and husband Darin of Jefferson City, Missouri; Janelle and Mark Vannausdle, and Evan Vannausdle all of Red Oak, Iowa; Beth Vannausdle of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Karly and Shelby Ayres, and Eric, Jordan and Paige Vannausdle all of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandchildren: Jayden Amend of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Kaden Johnson of Red Oak, Iowa; sister: June Swanson Oliver and husband Wayne of Independence, Missouri; special nephew: Jerry Swanson of Independence, Missouri; sister-in-law: Elsie Mellott of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 14, 2005 at the First Covenant Church with Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Tag-A-Longs Projects or the First Covenant Church.
