Larry Bergsten, age 47, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004 at his home after a sudden illness. Larry Reuben Bergsten was born January 25, 1957 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Reuben and Gladys (Hilding) Bergsten. Larry attended school in Coburg until after the death of his father in 1965 at which time Larry and his mother moved into Red Oak. He was baptized and confirmed in the First Covenant Church. Larry graduated from Red Oak High School in 1975 where he played on the varsity basketball team his junior and senior years. He later graduated from the Buena Vista University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. Larry had worked for a number of places in the Red Oak area including most recently the Pamida Store.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father: Clarence Munson.

Survivors include his 2 brothers: Marvin Bergsten and wife Pat of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Ron Bergsten and Audrey Bergsten, both of Tampa, Florida; 2 step-sisters: Shirley Billings and husband Lavon of Red Oak, Iowa; and Charlene Cole of Goodland, Kansas; Nephews: Mark Bergsten of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Ben Bergsten and wife Jennifer of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Scott Billings and wife Molly of Omaha, Nebraska; Nieces: Dyan Larsen and husband Kent of Sidney, Iowa; Darby Herald and husband Jesse of Tampa, Florida; Elke Bergsten of Omaha, Nebraska; Cristin Cole of Orlando, Florida; and Cynthia Cole of Goodland, Kansas; Aunts and Uncles: Dan and Judy Bergsten of Red Oak, Iowa; David Bergsten and wife Phyllis of Arizona; and Lillian Tollefsrud of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the First Covenant Church with Rev. Alan Dean and Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial of the ashes will be at a time prior to the memorial service at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church.
