Donna Gayle French, age 78, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Donna was born January 13, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Donald and Abbie Irene (Wilcox) Iles. She was raised in California and graduated high school in Flint, Michigan. She met Richard French, while he was stationed in the Navy, in California and they were married August 1, 1964 in Anaheim. They moved to Red Oak, Iowa, in 1966, where Donna was a homemaker and did some babysitting. She later worked for D & L which became RoMech where she retired after 13 years and most recently worked at Fareway Grocery Store. Through the years, she has also done odd jobs including ironing, painting, cleaning, and worked for many years for the Shirley Billings family. Donna had many hobbies including bowling, going to garage sales, dancing, playing cards, camping, going to coffee with her friends at McDonalds and Burger King, having lunch at Rainbow Café, and spending time with her family, especially the grandkids. She never missed a sporting event of her kids or grandkids. She and Richard were even voted Fans of The Year one year and were Grand Marshals of the homecoming parade.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Richard French on November 15, 2015; sister: Sharon Shelton; brothers-in-law: Larry Shelton, Donald French, and Elden French; and sisters-in-law: Linda Hardy and Ruth Hubbard. Survivors include her children: Dale French and wife Sueann of Red Oak, IA; Dewey French and wife Connie of Clarinda, IA; Dustin French and wife Jennifer of Red Oak, IA; and Robert French of Timbell, MN; many grandchildren including: Chloe DeLay and husband Aaron of Council Bluffs, IA; Gabrielle Pedersen and husband Rulin of Sioux City, IA; Gavin French and wife Brianna of Norfolk, VA; Brandon French and wife Rachel of Clarinda, IA; Cody French and wife Chelsey of Clarinda, IA; Cheyenne French and Austin Goudie of Clarinda, IA; and Logan, Piper, Cameo, Linde, and Deion French of Red Oak, IA; many great grandchildren including: Jace, Corbin, Crew, and Stetson; brother-in-law: Frank Hubbard of Elwood, KS; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life funeral will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family.
