William Henry “Bud” Viner, age 89, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bud was born August 27, 1931 in Stanton, Iowa, the son of Joseph William and Elsie Elizabeth (Carlstedt) Viner. He was raised in Villisca, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. Bud graduated from South High School in Omaha in 1950. He was a mechanic in Omaha and then moved to Emerson, Iowa, where he started Viner Garage in 1953. Bud served in the Army Reserves from 1954 until 1957. Over the years, he added trucking to the business and at one time had many trucks in the fleet. He eventually incorporated the business as Viner's, Inc. and retired in 2013. The business is still a family run business. Bud was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church. Bud loved his dogs, a good game of cards, Gunsmoke, tators, and his shop where he spent many hours.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Sandy Viner on July 29, 2020; and sisters: Elizabeth Helm, Joann Dixon, Kate Johnson, Dorothy Brezacek, Charlotte Treat, and Carol Snelling. Survivors include his children: Deborah Doyle of Glenwood, IA; Jack Viner of Olympia, WA; Connie Viner of Emerson, IA; and Brenda Pace and husband Larry of Percival, IA; grandchildren: Jackson Doyle; Maggie Doyle; Christopher Viner and wife Amy; Benjamin Blank; Michael Blank; Chehala Goodenkauf and husband Buddy; Kasha Moore and husband Josh; and Lawrence Pace; great grandchildren: Joyella, Arley, Albie, Kennedy, and Mason; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery.
