FUNERAL POSTPONED UNTIL TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2021 AT 2 PM AT NELSON-BOYLAN-LERETTE FUNERAL CHAPEL.

Marvin Dean Maxell, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Marvin was born January 10, 1939 in Montgomery County, Iowa, the son of Marion and Maxine Maxell. He graduated from Red Oak High School and started working at Johnson Brothers Construction. He was united in marriage to Judy Sellers on August 4, 1956 at Tabor Lutheran Church at Wallin, Iowa. Over the years, he did carpentry work and operated heavy machinery. He worked for Homer Focht and was known for his wonderful terrace work. He also worked for A.M. Cohron and Sons for over 25 years before retiring. He then worked for area farmers. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, enjoyed woodworking, and restored old John Deere tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Scott Maxell; infant daughter: Tami; and brother-in-law: Harley Sellers. Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Judy Maxell of Red Oak, IA; daughters: Lisa Jones of Red Oak, IA and Lori Meggison and husband Doug of Glenwood, IA; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Clyde Sellers and wife Nadine of Red Oak, IA; Tom Sellers and wife Sheila of Colorado; Terry Sellers and wife Mary of Red Oak, IA; Jeff Sellers and wife Betty of Gretna, NE; and Art Sellers and wife Cindy of Council Bluffs, IA; sister-in-law: Jeanette Demanett and husband Raymond of Shenandoah, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial celebration of life will be held 2 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Angels Care Home Health Agency.

Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Social distancing and masks are required.
