Joyce Schroer Paneitz, age 97, entered into rest on January 16, 2021, in Shenandoah, Iowa following a few years of declining health. She was born September 10, 1923 in Lakota, North Dakota, the daughter of Clemmy Cly and Mabel (Belyea) Luckett.

Joyce graduated from Nevis, Minnesota High School in 1941. She went to teachers college in Walker, Minnesota graduating in 1942. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse for five years.

Joyce married LeRoy P. Schroer on December 24, 1945 in Willmar, Minnesota. They moved to Red Oak, Iowa in 1954 where they raised their three children. In addition to being a homemaker, Joyce worked at various locations throughout the years, including substitute teaching, Montgomery Ward, and Koltermanís Variety.

Joyce and LeRoy were charter members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Red Oak. Joyce was active in Lutheran Women's Missionary League and most other church activities. After retirement, she also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

LeRoy passed away in 1988, and in 1992, Joyce married Marvin Paneitz, an old family friend and former Red Oak resident. They moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and enjoyed retirement traveling the country in their RV, and spent several winters in Arizona and Florida. Marvin passed away in October of 2020.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Cecil. Survivors include her children: Linda Micheel and husband Bruce of Shenandoah, IA; David Schroer and wife Anny of Bunnell, FL; and Leann Schroer and husband Lonnie Crawford of Joplin, MO; four grandchildren (Lindaís children): Matthew Micheel and wife Kim; Sarah Harvey and husband Adam; Benjamin Micheel and wife Rachel; and Rachel Goodpasture and husband Adam; 11 great grandchildren: Zoey, Hannah, Elizabeth, Matthew, Abigail, Addelyn, Jayel, Elijah, Riley, Emma, and Clara; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. Burial will be with her husband LeRoy Schroer in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Public Library.
