Ruth Evelyn Querry, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Good Samaritan Society. Ruth was born December 19, 1935 near Nyman, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Peterson) Anderson. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1954 and was united in marriage to Robert Querry on October 10, 1954. Robert and Ruth started farming their own farm in 1955 and moved into Red Oak in 2013. Ruth worked for many years as the head cook for Red Oak Community Schools. She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she participated in WELCA, Bible Study, and played piano and organ for many years. Music was a passion for Ruth. She also accompanied the “Happy Warblers” singing group of the Senior Citizens for many years. Ruth was a wonderful cook and baker, loved to garden, growing produce for family and friends, and she loved tending to her beautiful flowers. She was also very active and enjoyed being a member of the YMCA.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Robert Querry on March 19, 2015; brother: Burt Anderson; sister: Mary Anderson; and son-in-law: Brad Stoural. Survivors include her children: Gary Querry and wife Linda of Red Oak; Nancy Roed and husband Dave of Burlington, IA; and Linda Bates and husband Tom of Macedonia, IA; grandchildren: Travis Querry and wife Stacy of Red Oak; Lisa Beresiwsky and husband Evash of Omaha, NE; Brett Querry and wife Kate of Red Oak; Ben Roed and wife Peggy of Bedford, IA; Kara Schreiner and husband Derek of Sandwich, IL; Kyle Roed and wife Sarah of Cedar Falls, IA; Timothy Roed of Iowa City, IA; Branden Stoural and wife Kelsi of Hooper, NE; Andrew Bates and wife Katie of Cheney, WA; and Kimberly Bates of Belgrade, MT; great grandchildren: Grace and Josie Goldapp; Ruby Querry; John and Ethan Beresiwsky; Gabe and Natalie Roed; Bella and Lexie Plath; Mila Schreiner; Jude, Thea, and Sienna Roed; Joshua, Elijah, and Isaac Stoural; and Wilder, Scout, and Rueger Bates; brother: Roy Anderson and wife Kay of Omaha, NE; sister: Doris Oldre of Hutchinson, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

A private family funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be an open time for viewing from Noon until 7 PM Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, The Montgomery County Family YMCA, or the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association.
