Stanley Rex Harold, age 92, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Stanley was born July 18, 1925 in Hastings, Iowa the son of Burl and Mary (Hurst) Harold. He was raised in Mills County and graduated from the Henderson, Iowa High School. Stan served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 and returned home where he farmed with his dad. He was united in marriage to Daisy McKinney, his high school sweetheart. She died at a very young age. He later was united in marriage to Frances Abbey in 1960 and one daughter was born to this union: Tammie. He later was united in marriage to Phyllis Lage on December 22, 1972 in Elk Point, South Dakota. Over the years Stanley worked for the State License Commission, Red Oak Transfer Moving and Storage, and retired in 1989 after a long career with Thos. D. Murphy Co. as shipping manager. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church serving on the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees. He was an American Legion member, Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor member, lifetime member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge, a Red Oak Eagles Lodge member, and was attending the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Stan enjoyed woodworking, meticulously taking care of his yard, and loved working with his John Deere tractor.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife: Daisy Harold; and brothers: Ruel and Virgil Harold. Survivors include his wife: Phyllis Harold of Red Oak, IA; daughter: Tammie Stoneking and husband Roger of Grant, IA; siblings: Wendell Harold and wife Janet of Omaha, NE; Florine Rife of Mondamin, IA; Leland Harold and wife Patricia of Clackamas, OR; Leta Burnison of Norfolk, NE; and Neta Lewis of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor or the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association.
