Rhonda LaVon (Crouse) Mannasmith , 62, of Maryville, Missouri, passed peacefully into the Father’s loving arms on September 19, 2017 after a five-year battle with cancer. Born June 1st, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa, Rhonda was the first of four children of Robert “Bob” and Maxine (Stanbrough) Crouse. Rhonda graduated from Red Oak High School in 1973 and soon after married her lifelong singing partner and confidante, Larry Mannasmith. Rhonda and Larry were united in marriage in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak on October 27, 1973, and remained joyfully in love for over 43 wonderful years. The Mannasmith Family was completed a few years later with the arrival of two daughters, Vanessa LaVon and Hilary Jean.

Rhonda loved being a part of her “families”. She served the people of Red Oak for over 25 years as part of her bank family at Houghton State Bank, where she worked as head teller until 2012. Later that year, Rhonda became part of her Northwest family, when she began working with an awesome group of friends in the Office of University Marketing & Communication at Northwest Missouri State University, where she also served as an administrative assistant in the Office of the President. Rhonda loved being a part of her Presbyterian families. While a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church, Rhonda served in numerous leadership and ministry capacities; but perhaps none were as special as Kids Club, a Wednesday evening ministry that saw well over 150 children attend every week, which she co-founded and helped direct for many years. After their move to Maryville, Rhonda found a second Presbyterian family with the wonderful people of the Maryville Presbyterian Church, where she continued singing in the choir and providing the children’s moment most Sundays. Rhonda also counted her sisters in PEO as family, as well as the two goofy boys her daughters brought home to marry. Everyone was family to Rhonda.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Bob, and niece Libby Hill. Survivors include Larry Mannasmith of the home, mother Maxine Crouse of Red Oak, IA; daughter Vanessa (Mannasmith) Parsons and her husband Tye of Maryville, MO; daughter Hilary (Mannasmith) Simmons and her husband Ian of Omaha, NE; three granddaughters, Lucy and Ellie Parsons, and Cora Simmons; sister Angie (Crouse) Hill and her husband Chris of Clarinda, IA and their children, Kip Hill and Cameron Hill and his wife Jessica and their daughter Aubrey; brother Dan Crouse and his wife Karen of Red Oak, IA and their children, SueAnn Crouse, Nicholas Crouse, and Michael Crouse & his fiancée Amanda Stitz; brother Brent Crouse of Fort Collins, CO and his children Jason Crouse and Mariah Crouse and her children Kyler and Avery Crouse; sister-in-law Dianne (Mannasmith) Braymen and her husband John of Urbandale, IA, and their children Erica Seeley and her husband Neil, and their children Norah, Kieran, Ethan, and Graham Seeley and Noah Braymen and his wife Lindsey and their children Noelle, Oliver, Lottie, and Lazarus Braymen; and sister-in-law Colene (Mannasmith) Doucette, her spouse Georgia; and her children Tyler Doucette and his wife Elizabeth and their children Chandler, Paige, Jadyn, Jakob, and Maci Doucette, and Robin Drennen and her husband Chris and their children Bailey and Eli Drennen; and many, many more relatives and friends.
