Bill was born September 26, 1929 in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Howard and Mamie (Peterson) Rea. He was raised in the Wales area graduating from Wales Lincoln High School in 1947. He later served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from service, Bill was employed as a welder in Red Oak. He was united in marriage to Sandra Fuller on January 9, 1954 at the Stratton United Methodist Church near Red Oak. Three children were born to this union: Cindy, Mike, and Chad. In 1956, Bill started farming with his family. This started a long career in farming for which he had a passion. Even after retiring in 1992, he helped his nephew, Larry Rea on the farm. He also became a representative for Beltone Hearing Aids for many years. Bill was a daredevil who enjoyed racing Go Karts, riding motorcycles, even owning an Indian motorcycle, and owning, flying, and crashing an Ultralite aircraft. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson Andy Rea and the great grandchildren. Bill spent many years enjoying life with his companion, Lois Jean Lawson who preceded him in death in 2013. Bill maintained a wonderful friendship with Lois’ son, Brian Bills, who spent many hours playing cribbage and visiting. Bill lived on the farm and loved to mow the many acres of grass until 2015 when he became a resident of the Red Oak Healthcare Community.
