Alan Lyle Holldorf, age 74, of Grant, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Alan was born February 23, 1943 in Griswold, Iowa the son of Clair and Iola (Blakely) Holldorf. He was raised in the Griswold area graduating from Griswold High School in 1961. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the war he started trucking with his brother Roger. He also worked on road construction and worked for Laverne Marcusson. Currently, Alan was working for Henningsen Construction in Atlantic, Iowa. Alan was united in marriage to Andrea Heltzel on January 21, 1973. They made their home in Montgomery County for most of their married life with the last 25 years being in Grant. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Grant American Legion. Alan loved animals and raised miniature donkeys. He will be laid to rest with his beloved dog "Raggy Ann".

Survivors include his wife: Andrea Holldorf of Grant, IA; siblings: Roger Holldorf and wife Jessie of Midland, TX; Mary Penry of Red Oak, IA; Zelda Swartz of Grant, IA; Harlan Holldorf of Elliott, IA; and Beverly Curtis and husband Jim of Eldridge, IA; many in-laws including: Kathy Vandrey and husband Paul of Red Oak, IA; Blaine Monroe of Michigan; Christine Loomes and husband Ian of Bradenton, FL; Francie Kern and husband Dave of Port Charlotte, FL; and Orville Heltzel and wife Silvia of Cloud Croft, NM; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the St. John's Cemetery at Lyman, Iowa. There will be a time of lunch and fellowship with the family after the service at the Hayloft in Grant, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Grant Volunteer Fire Department or the family of Alan Holldorf.
