Paul Wyckoff Butler, the fourth child of Claude and Ruth (Wyckoff) Butler was born in Red Oak, Iowa on October 2, 1938. He peacefully passed away on March 3, 2017, in Kirkland, Washington at Evergreen Hospice.

He graduated from Red Oak High School and joined the Air Force as a crew chief for four years. Paul married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Johnson, on August 21, 1960. He worked in the photocopy business before retiring to the state of Washington in 1999. They lived in many places; Miami, FL; Riverside, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Lincoln, NE; Red Oak, IA; Aurora, IL; Snohomish, WA; and Kenmore, WA.

Paul always greeted everyone with a smile and strong handshake. He loved to spend time with his wife and family most of all. He enjoyed getting to know the dogs on his daily walks with Gloria and loved to be with his cat at home. Making homemade ice-cream, talking about his love of Maui, singing silly songs, and telling stories about growing up on the farm were some of his other favorite past times.

He was preceded by his parents, Claude and Ruth, his sisters Mary Ann and Jean, and his brother Neal. Paul is survived by Gloria, his wife of 56 years; his sons and daughter in-laws, Troy & Deanne Butler of Kirkland, Washington; Todd & Susan Butler of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Jessica Butler and Hayley Butler.

Graveside funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Nyman, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, Evergreen Hospice, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
