John Joseph "Jack" Von Bon, age 81, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society. Jack was born June 12, 1932 in Dedham, Iowa the son of John A. and Theresa (Schmitz) Von Bon. He was raised in Dedham and graduated from the Carroll, Iowa High School. He moved to Red Oak, Iowa in 1957 where he worked at the Farmers Mercantile in the Hardware Department. He was united in marriage to Doris Walford on January 17, 1976 in Westboro, Missouri. They made their home in Red Oak. Jack worked for Homedco Medical Supply Company retiring after many years of service. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a charter member and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed singing for many years with the Happy Warblers. His greatest enjoyment was his family especially the grandchildren. Jack also loved to visit with family and friends, never meeting a stranger.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Doris Von Bon; and brother: Delbert Von Bon. Survivors include his children: John A. Von Bon and wife Brooke of Germantown, WI; Eugene Von Bon and wife Rita of Navarre, FL; Robert Von Bon and wife Elaine of Bloomfield, IA; and Tim Von Bon and wife Jill of Ogden, UT; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother: Ronald Von Bon of Panora, IA; sisters: Kathleen Horner of Des Moines, IA and Mary Smith of N. Little Rock, AR; brothers-in-law: Roger Walford and wife Donna of Red Oak, IA and Tom Walford and wife Betty of Gilbert, AZ; sisters-in-law: Betty Walford of Red Oak, IA; Bert Walford of Red Oak, IA; and Anna Belle Von Bon of Dedham, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, April 28, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Tom Kunnel, TOR officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Rosary and prayer services will begin at 6 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with visitation with the family to follow until 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the St. Marys' Catholic Church Elevator Fund.
