Elaine Bisbee age 82 of Villisca, Iowa passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at her home in Villisca. Elaine Bisbee was born on May 23, 1930 to Clair and Alice (Hawkinson) Martin in Isanti County, Minnesota. She moved to Iowa at the age of seven. Her mother married Vernon Peterson whom adopted Elaine and her brother. Elaine attended grade school at Stennett, Iowa and graduated from Essex Community Schools.
On September 10, 1949, Elaine married Gerald Bisbee at the Lutheran Church in Essex. To this union two children were born, Norma L. and Dale L. Bisbee. Elaine and Gerald lived most of their married life in the Villisca and Red Oak area. They farmed near Villisca from 1952 until moving to Red Oak in 1974. In 1984, they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and later to Springfield, Missouri. They returned to Villisca in 1996.
Elaine was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Villisca. Elaine gave her heart to Jesus in September of 1973. Her desire was for everyone to come into the knowledge of His saving grace and not to put it off. This message was very important to her and she made a point to share her love for Christ with family and friends.
Gerald and Elaine enjoyed traveling. Their favorite trip was to Israel, where they both were baptized in the Jordan River. Elaine enjoyed making things to give to others. She crafted cut glass pieces, candles, ceramics, stain glass and cross stitch. She learned to crochet and gave many afghans to family and friends. While in Villisca, Elaine was active in the Advent Christian Circle and a volunteer hair dresser at the Good Samaritan Center.
Elaine was known for many things: wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend. She emulated the love of God in all of her roles. “Love is patient, love is kind, love is not rude and always puts others first.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). When she was not sharing Christ with others through her words, she preached it through her actions. She will be missed very much by all who knew her. Elaine is survived by her children; daughter: Norma (Larry) Fast; son: Dale (Candye) Bisbee; six grandchildren: Scott (Julie) Fast, Lori (Pat) Waymire, Adam (Kari) Fast, Luke (Kim) Fast, Brandi (Derk) Wichhart and Jennifer (Corbin) Rowley; 16 great grandchildren; brother Wendell (Laurie) Peterson; half sisters Lotus Paulus and Pam Nelson; life-long friends: Marilyn Vannausdle and Ruby Harper; brothers and sisters-in-law: Denver Moree, Jack (Pauline) Bisbee, Larry (Joan) Bisbee, Mae (Jim) Orstad, Mary Lou (Jim) Shook and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; her husband: Gerald in 2005, her mother and father-in-law and sister-in-law: Shirley Moree.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Advent Christian Church in Villisca with Pastor Darren Brisco officiating. Burial will be in the Villisca Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held 2-4PM Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Advent Christian Church in Villisca.
