Mary Jo Brenning, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, June 2, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Mary Jo Brenning was born September 20, 1926 the daughter of Chester and Lulu (Jackson) Towne. She graduated High School and lived all of her life in the Montgomery County area. Mary Jo was united in marriage to Herman Brenning on March 25, 1950 in Sidney, Iowa. . She worked as assistant City Clerk for Red Oak for many years and later worked in the County Auditors office where she retired in the late 1980ís.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Herman Brenning on July 23, 1992; 2 brothers: Howard and Dale Towne; and 3 sisters: Lois Grafke, Vivian Hilding, and Louise Jenkins.

Survivors include her 2 sisters: Jean Foster and her husband Jack of Aurora, Colorado; and Beth Schirm of Stuart, Iowa; many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. JoAnn Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Animal Rescue.
