Albert Swanson, age 101, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Albert Leroy Swanson was born northeast of Villisca in Adams County, Iowa the son of Andrew and Anna (Johnson) Swanson. He came to Montgomery County in 1905 and has lived here all of his life. Albert was united in marriage to Lois Selser in 1925. They farmed for 25 years before moving into Red Oak where he worked in real estate sales for many years. Lois preceded him in death in 1969.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Mary and Esther; and four brothers: Elmer, Henry, Carl, and Ernest.

Survivors include his daughter: Norma Shellenberger and her husband Joe of Lynwood, Washington; three grandchildren: Gayle Hagen and her husband Ron of Fairfax, California; Eric Shutt of Chicago, Illinois; and Susan Forrest and her husband John of Ames, Iowa; four great grandchildren; and his youngest sister: Mildred Wahlert of South Holland, Illinois.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM Friday, MAY 24, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will take place in Evergreen Cemetery at a time prior to the memorial services. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Rescue Unit.
