Randall W. “Randy” Jones, age 62, of Wales, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Mills County, Iowa from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Randall Wesley “Randy” Jones was born April 18, 1949 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Aubrey Wesley and Helen “Elaine” (Kruta) Jones. He was raised in the Wales Community of Montgomery County, Iowa. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1967 and attended Trade School for auto mechanics. He then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era on the USS Hancock working on the steam engines. Upon his return to Wales, he worked for the Farmers Mercantile delivering propane and then started farming. He farmed until 1983 when he went to work for the Red Oak Community Schools as a custodian. During that time he went to school at Southwestern Community College at night earning his LPN in 1995. He started work at Good Samaritan Care Center and currently was working at the Glenwood State School. Randy was a member of the Wales Presbyterian Church, the Cooperative Parish Choir, Southwest Iowa Concert Chorale, and the Grist Mill Theater. He enjoyed woodworking, mowing his yard, raising animals and living life on the farm that he loved so much. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and grandson: Kaleb Allan Jones. Survivors include his children: Ken Jones and wife Amber of Jesup, IA; Michele Heitman and special friend Robert McMann of Red Oak, IA; and Anada Jones of Troy, Montana; grandchildren: Mercedes and McKenzie Nissen and Shelby Heitman all of Red Oak, IA; brother: Ronald Jones and wife Linda of Auburn, NE; sisters: Linda Andersen and husband Donald of Oskaloosa, IA and Barbara Gunther and husband Mark of Muscatine, IA; best friend: Eileen Adickes of Macedonia, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Wales Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Gomer Cemetery at Wales, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Grist Mill Theater or the Wales Presbyterian Church.
