Marilyn R. (McCunn) Drennen, age 77, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away January 4, 2012 at the Regency Rehabilitation Center. Marilyn was born August 17, 1934 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Greta (Abbott) McCunn. She graduated from Stennett, Iowa High School in 1951. Marilyn married Richard S. “Sam” Drennen on July 27, 1952 in Red Oak, Iowa. They were blessed with five children. Marilyn was an office worker at Nogg Brothers for 10 years; homemaker, babysitter and worked at JCPenney’s. She was a member of Southside Christian Church. Marilyn was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Molly Haferbier; sisters, Patty Larsen, Norma Peterson and Janice McCunn; brothers, Merle, Dean, Lyle, Myron, Ellis and Lowell McCunn. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Sam Drennen of Council Bluffs; sons, Richard Drennen and wife Cindy of Flandreua, South Dakota, David Drennen and wife Debra of Council Bluffs, Daniel Drennen of Omaha, Nebraska, James Drennen and wife Kelly of Rogers, Arkansas; daughter, Julie Haferbier and husband Roger of Treynor, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sister, Becky Taylor of Rockford, Illinois; brothers, Donald McCunn and wife Ardell of Massena, Iowa, Carroll “Newt” McCunn and wife Carolyn of Onawa, Iowa; many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 6, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11 AM at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel with Rev. Gary Hollers officiating. Interment will be at Ridgewood Cemetery with a luncheon following at the Masonic Temple. Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels or Alzheimer’s Foundation.
